What does it cover?

Employment Practices Liability Coverage can protect businesses from the cost of claims arising out of the hiring, firing and management of employees.  Coverage is provided for payments required if you are found to be negligent, including the defense costs of lawsuits.  General Liability Insurance policies generally exclude these types of claims.

Some examples of Employment Practices Liability coverage are:

Employee alleges injury or damages due to such claims as:
    ●  Discrimination
    ●  Sexual Harassment
    ●  Wrongful Discipline
    ●  Negligent Evaluation
    ●  Wrongful Termination
    ●  Failure to Employ or Promote
    ●  Breach of Employment Contract
    ●  Deprivation of Career Opportunities
    ●  Wrongful Infliction of Emotional Stress

Additional coverage for acts by or against a third party may be available.
Coverage for “prior acts” available if Prior Claims Made coverage exists.

Why Bragdon?

Bragdon knows Employment Practices Liability insurance which only covers claims actually made during the policy period.  This type of policy differs greatly from “typical” liability insurance such as general or automobile liability that cover occurrences during the policy period regardless of when a claim is made.

Due to the “claims made” nature of this coverage great care must be taken in applying for new coverage and monitoring the renewal process.  Bragdon has long experience with claims made policies.  We will communicate options such as third party and punitive damages that may be available and coordinate coverage for prior acts if acceptable prior coverage has been carried.
